It'd make sense to do something like this, if only because Post Searing takes place 2 years after Ascalon burns. And you look exactly the same!
Hell, in Fable, I'm like....65.
It'd be nice to age (just a little) and to "brag" about what we've done. Hell, if our pets "evolve"...why can't we?

I'd like to see a more free form variation on this idea. Say you can change you characters appearance after ascending. Or afterwards, if you pay one of the following: 5 skillpoints. 5000 faction. 50k gold.
The kicker is, by completing various objectives, (do a 10 win streak in team arenas! complete FoW! Ascend a Monk primary! etc), you unlock various new cosmetic additions that you can add to your character.
New hairstyles, body shapes, faces, skin/hair colors, armor appearance modifiers (like "shiny" or "weathered", skin appearance modifiers like facial scars, eye patches, glowy eyes, body scars etc.)
That way you can evolve your characters appearance, have a visible proof that you've done something, and be able to choose what you want your character to look like, all in one

Hmm.
I donno.
Unlockable hairstyle options and faces feels dangerously close to "Barbie Makeover for PC" territory.
Just my opinion. But the principal remains -

I think the evolution thing is a great idea, but I"d prefer to see characters that evolve with time as opposed to level.

Well, it is better to have it done by level rather than time because that way you don't have people leaving their game on to have themselves age automatically. Also, if you are a level 20, then people could at least hint to you being level 20 by the way you look, rather than you looking really muscular because you are stupid enough to not know that there is a post seering and you have been in preseering since release ( I have seen some, I swear ).
As good as an idea as this is, there is only one reason that the Devs will not implement this. That reason is that it is too easy to get to level 20 which is and forever will be the max( the Devs said it themselves ). So it would be a waste of time and effort for the Devs to do this. Even if the cap is increased in expansions, then that will mean that they have to come up with ways for your character to change without becoming a virtual Hulk(tm).
On another note, I am all for more customizing of my character as I have run into my twin more times than intended (my game parents were ******). We could have barbers or salons or even tattoo places. I don't think that most of these things should be unlocked as you want to make as many people look as unique as possible( The Fissure armor is for the most elite and unique of course).
P.S. I did agree with the post asking you to use the search feature. Reason for that being is that the Devs are most likely going to read a thread with 1000 posts rather than find 100 threads with 10 posts about the same topic.

I agree that we need more customisation for our characters, as we advance, or after ascending. I think, also, more Dye options for armours, maybe making it so you can dye it with two different colours? Like the 'trim' and the 'rest of it'. I really want black armour with a silver trim for my Ele...but no, i'm stuck with grey with a white trim...still looks cool, but it's just not the other one.

I think Xues idea is interesting and I'd be all for it, but the Guild Wars graphic engine doesn't possess the technology to gradually age or scar our characters at the moment.
What could be done as an expansion is simply an optional "reskin" of your existing character, which could allow for aging and battle marks.
Realize not everyone will want this. Some people want to look like supermodels with perfectly coiffed hair, even after walking out or a rain of fire. Unrealistic of course, but it is a fantasy game after all. Likewise, those espousing an elvish look will not wnt any aging effects whatsoever.
My 2 cp.

Lol.
Correction - I think they should start out looking a little wimpier and level up to their current "hideously big" size. Maybe they start out like Chuck Norris before they turn into Schwarzeneggar. The way it is now is that everyone's a muscleman.

At the very least, give some mark of distinction for having ascended. It's supposed to be a big deal, and you slog through hell and high-water (and awful PUGs, too) to do it. And you look absolutely the same afterwards. Or maybe when you get infused armor, it looks spiffier (without my being too subjective, of course).

Puberty? What, are our characters going to have squeaky voices and cramps every two levels? Yeah. That'd be fun.

Yeah maybe this is a good plan. I want it to make it possible for every character to be one of a kind. Unique. And I think that will be done as much as possible in the future. So I am patient.
Oh yeah Gedscho. If people want green hair, let them have green hair, that doesn't mean you have to too. I am against people who disagree with others and then take away what the other want. Don't be that selfish
